Love Lost when Internship Ends?

by Penny
(Florida)

I met a guy not too long ago and we both like each other. We are shy so we are just getting to know each other. My concern is that I am an intern, and my internship will be ending in a couple of months.

I have prayed, asking God to take away the feelings that we have for each other. So far they have not faded away. Actually, the feelings have grown stronger and we know each other better.

So why would God allow me and this guy to have feelings and grow closer if I just have to leave and go to another state after my internship ends?

If I had to leave because of a job, I know he would understand. I do not want to break this guy's heart, but I do want a job or another internship related to my career.

He is really sweet and kind to me. Right now I am trying to be his friend by getting to know him better taking things slowly.

Please pray for my situation.

James' Answer: A Prayer for You

Hi Penny,

Here is my prayer for you...

"Heavenly Father, we praise You as the author of life and the giver of all good gifts. We are so thankful for Your forever-faithfulness and unconditional love."

"Lord please help Penny in this situation. You know where her heart is and what she needs. Please comfort her with the fact that you have a plan to fulfill all her needs."

"You have brought Penny to this internship and this relationship for a reason, whether that is to learn a lesson about letting go or to find someone to love... we don't know but we trust that you have her best interest at heart either way."

"Please help Penny to make good decisions based on the values that you have placed in her heart. Help her to be a light to the people around her, and a witness to Your power and glory in everything that she does."

"We know that you are the God of long-distance love... that you maintain a strong connection with us even though we can't see Your face right now. If this relationship is supposed to be, we thank you in advance for sustaining it no matter how far away Penny is from this man."

"If this relationship is not to be, please give Penny the grace to give it back to You and learn what You would have her to learn from this experience."

"Either way, Lord, make the decision clear in Penny's heart... and bring her the peace that You promise Your children."

"We ask these things in the name of Jesus Christ our Savior, Amen."

Okay Penny,

Go with God! I know that you will make good decisions because you are seeking Him with your whole heart.

Blessings,

-James
