How Coaching WorksFor change to happen there need to be two things present: Initiative and Structure.
Initiative is simply the desire and effort. Without desire and effort, nothing happens!
Who provides the Initiative in a coaching relationship? You, the Client! If you have the desire to change some part of your life and you are willing to do whatever it takes to make that change happen, you have what it takes to be an excellent coaching client.
Structure is the framework for making change. Without this framework, all of our desire and effort have no direction and nothing is accomplished!
Who provides the Structure in a coaching relationship? The Coach! With training and experience, the coach knows how to channel the client's energy, give an energy boost when needed, provide tools for problem solving and self-discovery, draw effective solutions out of the client and show support, empathy and honesty all at the same time.
The Coach cannot provide the Initiative, because it is impossible to give someone else the desire that leads to real life-changing effort. The Client begins coaching to take advantage of the Coach's skill in providing a structured-but-creative, supportive-but-challenging environment. So... Are You Ready?If you are ready for someone to listen to you openly, without judgment or condemnation,you are ready for Christian Life Coaching. If you are ready to bounce ideas off of an objective and observant third party, you are ready to talk to a Coach. If you are ready for someone to tell you the truth, even when it is uncomfortable, you are ready for a Coach.
